Duration

5 days theory and 2 days in practical skills with a pest control firm. Students who can't gain hands-on experience with a pest company will be required to attend classes organised by Safeguard Pest Management Training.
 

This course covers:

  • Legislation regarding public health pest control 

  • How to choose and use insecticide and rodenticide formulas

  • Safety: Personal protective equipment (PPI) and pesticide application equipment

  • Handling, storage and transporting pesticides

  • Pest management of foxes, feral cats, possums, birds, mice, and rats (vertebrate pests animals)

  • Control of pest insects such as cockroaches, wasps, ants, fleas, and spiders.

  • New developments in active ingredients, formulations and application techniques

• 'Hands-on' insect identification including a variety of pest specimens
• A virtual home inspection and treatment program for general pests.
